What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a manual, hands on therapy where our practitioners focus on providing a holistic approach to health and healing. We consider how your whole body is interconnected and understand how it functions rather than one specific area of pain or discomfort.

We use a wide range of techniques including soft tissue massage, articulation, mobilization, manipulation, stretching alongside take home exercises, postural advice, and ergonomic assessments to get you feeling the best you can be.

Osteopaths are thoroughly trained to assess and diagnose your musculoskeletal system and causes of your pain.

What we treat

Our techniques

Osteopathy is a holistic form of treatment that utilizes a range of techniques that can increase function and decrease pain. At KB Osteopathy, our team is trained across the following.

Soft tissue massage

Soft tissue massage is a common form of manual therapy. This technique works to relieve muscle tension, promoting relaxing of muscle and joint tightness as well improving circulation to the targeted area.

Dry-needling

Is a technique used to address muscle pain and tightness. The application of small needles to the targeted area stimulates muscle, improves blood flow, and creates a local contraction in the muscle. Dry-needling targets muscular ‘trigger points’ that are specific within the muscle for pain.

Joint mobilization

Joint mobilisation encompasses varying techniques such as muscle energy technique (MET), joint articulation, and joint manipulation

These techniques aim to promote movement through stiff, restricted joints in and out of their motion to improve function.

Myofascial Cupping Icon

Myofascial cupping

A long practiced manual therapy technique, myofascial cupping uses suction to separate levels of skin, muscle, and fascia to lessen tightness or adhesion in that area. This technique aims to promote better circulation, local blood flow, and lymphatic drainage to the area treated.
